Food Pantry

The Sacred Heart Food Pantry has taken over the role of the St. Vincent de Paul Committee  which was founded in 1988. They meet weekly from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in a School Building classroom. Persons from the LaPorte area needing assistance (food, utilities, and medicines) may come to the building on this day from 2 to 3 p.m. and fill out an application.

(Due to financial limitations we are currently only able to offer assistance with Food)

Sacred Heart parishioners support our Food Pantry through contributing non perishable food items dropped off in the white food bins in Church, direct financial contributions, and membership in the organization.

Clothing give-a-ways are conducted twice a year, in the spring and fall. Volunteers are needed to help sort clothes; due to limited storage, please do not bring your clothing donations more than two weeks before the give-a-ways.

Donations are routinely received from Youth Group "Souper Bowl" Sunday, Thanksgiving day mass, faith formation classes, Boy Scouts,. Poor Boxes are also available at each entrance to the church.

Non-perishable and monetary donations are accepted all year, but are especially appreciated in November and December, when Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets are prepared for persons whose names have been submitted to the Committee.

Those interested in joining the Food Pantry Ministry should contact the Office.  We do not give out the member names and numbers so that patrons don't contact them for assistance at their home numbers.
